Gentle Panda

About

The before, the during,
and the fire after.

Gentle Panda was founded by Jake Walters in British Columbia sled culture. It is built for the whole arc of a day outside, and for the people living it.

01  The after-moment

Everyone thinks sled culture is the throttle. Riders know it is all of it: the plan the night before, the deep-snow morning, and the fire after.

The sled is parked. The gear is steaming by the stove. Somebody got the fire going without being asked, and nobody is in a hurry to be anywhere else.

The mountain, the spec, the cold: all of it is real, and all of it is part of the story. What people hold onto afterwards is who was there and how long everyone stayed.

So we build for the whole of it: the plan, the ride, the warmth, the crew, and the moment you are actually in, wherever in the day it lands.

02  The Elements

The year-round map.

Community leads, and five Elements carry the seasons. They are how the range is planned, how the photography is grouped, and how this site is laid out.

03  The place

British Columbia, all year.

Mountains, lakes, snow and the light after. The same places in every season.

04  The values

Community first. Then Effort, then Positivity.

The order is the point. Community decides who all of this is for, Effort is how it gets made, and Positivity is how it sounds.

Quality and sustainability are product promises, not values. They get claimed only where they can be shown to be true, which is not yet.

05  Where things actually are

Early, and saying so.

The first run is being made now. Product is coming soon, with the season it was made for. Already real: a registered mark, a crew, a lineup we are proud of, and a list that hears first.

When the window opens, the list hears first and founding members hear before the list. That is the whole mechanic. We tell you exactly where we are, plainly, as it happens.

None of this started as a business. It started as a group of people who kept ending up in the same places, and who wanted more of the whole of it: the plans, the days, and the nights after them.

Awaiting Jake Founder’s own words
